I've More Important Things To Do Than This - Corporate Communications: Irritant or Necessity

Thursday, 26 November 2009 20:21

A commodity some argue is more valuable than gold. If you don't have it, you crave it. If you do have it, there is a temptation is to keep it saved close to your chest. Why is it important for businesses, no matter how large or small, to pay very close attention to how they communicate, what they communicate, to whom they communicate and when they communicate? Tom Malcolm will set out his views this morning. Today's speaker: Tom Malcolm is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Until he took special early retirement in May this year, he had spent his working life in communications. Firstly in journalism, in his native Scotland and then around three and a half decades 'on the other side of the fence' in motor industry public relations. For most of that time he worked for Ford Motor Company, latterly as director of corporate and internal communications for Ford of Europe based at their headquarters in Cologne, Germany. He is a past chairman of the Motor Industry Public Affairs Association, a 'Friend' of the Guild of Motoring Writers and a former trustee of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. He has lived in the Colchester area for over 20 years.
