The pains of software that makes you truly more profitable

Thursday, 25 February 2016 00:00

For most businesses software is a means to an end, but nevertheless critical for running efficiently to save money, capturing information to make the best decisions, identifying and communicating sales opportunities, ensuring consistent service to customers, making it easier for your customers to reach you and much more.

Despite all this many businesses are stuck in a middle-ground, needing such systems to cater for their uniqueness but lacking the in-house expertise to objectively deliver something effective and unsure how to choose from so many options.

Dominic Tyler-Lovett from Conclusys will be discussing how it's possible to get software that saves you money, makes you more money - for less money!  We'd now like to discuss how this has been working and ask for your valuable feedback on the company's overall presentation.

Veteran Members Session

Thursday, 19 November 2015 00:00

We have a number of members who have been stalwarts at the Business Cafe for many years. Our newer members get a opportunity to tell us about their businesses not long after they join but we seldom return to our existing members to either discover their stories for the first time (for the newer members), or revisit their stories if you were around when they initially joined the Business Cafe. Over the coming months we are going to rectify this situation.

This week we will be giving two of these grizzled veterans, namely Chris Crace from Business Life Ltd and Quentin Colborn from QC People Management, the chance to give us an insight into their businesses and a bit of background about themselves.

This success has meant that they have launched a training provider company that trains apprentices.

They intend to talk openly and transparently about the benefits and disadvantages about hiring apprentices and how this can, in some circumstances help grow business.

With over 70% of internet searches now made on a mobile devise it’s really important that your website is mobile ready and re-sizes to fit the screen its being viewed on. Google also now favours mobile ready sites when people search on smaller screens so being responsive will help with your on-line visibility as well as giving a better user experience.

Oliver Brock from it’seeze Web Consultants will be demonstrating the benefits of responsive website design in more detail and showing how important it is for your business moving forward.

Dan Woodruff has volunteered to lead the session and his selected book is "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John C Maxwell. The book is available from sites like Amazon. Dan says "This is an easily accessible book on the principles of leadership. These maxims apply to all of us regardless of whether we lead a team or merely seek to influence others. Hopefully, this should stimulate an interesting discussion and learning for us all."

The goal is for these sessions to be inclusive so that even if someone has not read the selected book they can participate in the broader discussion about the theme of the book.
