Business Bank (Colchester Community Voluntary Services)

Thursday, 04 July 2013 08:30

Business Bank is part of Colchester Community Voluntary Services and seeks to link the needs of local Voluntary organisations with Businesses who have resources that can and want to help.

At times of austerity, understandably most businesses do not have money to donate to the voluntary sector, however they can still help by providing skills or knowledge that can often be more valuable than just money by helping teach or provide knowledge from existing resources at no extra cost.

This can be in the form of giving advice and guidance relating to their area of expertise, offering services to an organisation that cannot afford to purchase them, donating equipment which is redundant or surplus to requirement, or perhaps mentoring the leaders of Voluntary organisation that may not have certain skills.

Through discussion the Business Bank will understand what your business can offer and then match this against the known needs of local voluntary groups.

It is a way of helping your community without incurring additional cost, and can also provide development opportunities for junior members of staff.

If you are interested join us at the Business Cafe on July 4th where Stephen Beresky will be telling us more about the organisation and their activities or contact:

Thursday, 20 June 2013 00:00

Did you know you can build a 2 storey extension, the full width to the rear of your house, the without the need for planning permission, you can also build a shed half the size of your garden?

However if you have recently built a conservatory more than 4.00 (13’-0”) deep beyond the original house, a deck/patio more than 300mm (1’-0”) above the existing garden or a driveway constructed from non-porous materials such as tarmac or block paviors, and you did not apply for planning permission ... come and listen to what I have to say.

Bob Tyrrell from Development Design Consultants will tell us about the latest state of play concerning the area of planning permission known as permitted development.
