Gateway 120 – the proposed plan to build a dual carriageway from Colchester to Braintree

Thursday, 24 October 2013 00:00

Essex desperately needs a new A120, Gateway 120 will help deliver the new duelled A120 by contributing to the cost of construction. This innovative private-public initiative will be  made possible by creating two new communities, based around the concept of the market town or garden suburb.

  • The plans will contribute significantly towards local housing needs and will create thousands of new jobs, supporting long term commercial growth:
  • High quality homes and communities to attract skilled workers
  • Faster, safer journeys between Colchester and Braintree
  • A better connection between two of the UK’s global market-facing infrastructure assets – Harwich port and Stansted airport
  • An investment valued at £1.1bn for the local economy
  • The creation of 11,600 new jobs, including over 5,000 construction roles
  • Major additional contributions to services and infrastructure through Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levies

These credible plans have been developed by local people supported by an experienced professional development team. The team is also engaged with Department for Transport, Department for Communities and Local Government, the Highways Agency, local authorities and local Members of Parliament.

Join us for breakfast to learn more about the Gateway 120 proposals, see how your business can benefit and have the opportunity to add your support for the scheme...

Show & Tell - The Best Business Book You Have Read (Part II)

Thursday, 10 October 2013 00:00

Have you ever read a business related book that has influenced you in a major way or that has helped develop your thinking about the business world in general?

Back by popular demand following on from the previous successful session in January this year, join us for another interactive session where we ask the attendees to ‘Show & Tell’.  Bring along a couple of books (or at least note their titles and authors) which you would like to mention along with a few words about the content and why you feel it is worth sharing with the group.  Alternatively some other non-fiction book may have been a significant influence – feel free to choose that instead.

We shall see where the discussion leads and, with luck, everyone will leave with plenty of fresh ideas to explore afterwards.
