Making Tax Digital

Thursday, 07 February 2019 00:00

From 1 April 2019, VAT registered businesses with a turnover above the £85,000 threshold will be required to submit their VAT returns to HMRC in a digital format, as part of the Making Tax Digital programme. To comply businesses may need to either upgrade or fundamentally change their existing accounting system.

Peter Disney from Wood & Disney will help attendees to understand what Making Tax Digital will mean for them not only in the short term but will consider what the future holds too.

Marketing in Print

Thursday, 24 January 2019 00:00

Steve Sleigh from Mail Boxes Etc. said:

"I was told in the mid 80's that print is dying and will be dead in 10 years, I was also told that offices will be paperless, I was also told that if I buy a lottery ticket I will be rich.....none has come to pass".

"Print can be a very important part of your "marketing mix"... now that is true ... (I would say that, I am a printer), but used in a targeted way it can bring results in an economic way, printing has changed over the last 30 years or more and this can be reflected in how you can use it."

Tied in with the recent presentation from Esther from eyespeak about branding, ... use your brand in print (as well as electronic methods), Steve, who has been in the printing industry since 1973, can explain some do's and don'ts of marketing in print.

Cyber Security

Thursday, 13 December 2018 00:00

'Cyber Security' sounds like a clandestine section of the CIA but it is in fact a topic that affects every one of us that holds data on our customers, employees and other stakeholders.

Not only do we need to protect our data from a purely commercial point of view but also to stay within the data protection laws, particularly with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations that came into force in May.

It is therefore quite timely that we will be hearing from Alasdair Hodgkins from Sarala Computers on the things that we can and need to do to protect our systems and the data they contain.

So come along and discover the guidelines that you need to follow that will help you to ensure that you are doing everything needed to keep your information safe.

Image is everything. Meaning is more

Thursday, 01 November 2018 00:00

Branding is in a constant state of flux; as the consumer becomes more attuned to the power of branding, designers are constantly reacting to new ideas and approaches. Following the success of her presentation on branding last year, Esther Feltham, the founder and creative director at eyespeak design will be using updated examples to explore the key themes of branding strategy that lead to the visualisation of an organisation's beliefs and values.

When an organisation recognises the value of a strong visual personality and invests in a brand story they appear confident and forward looking, which in turn helps them become a challenger to the market leader. Esther will also show how global organisations have made catastrophic errors and navigated tricky waters. However, the themes that she will discuss are applicable to the smallest business to the largest multi-nationals. Get your branding right and the customers follow.
