Business Café Members Firewalking For Charity

Wednesday, 01 February 2012 12:29

firewalkTwo of our intrepid Business Café members, Jolyon Berry and Mark Adlem, have decided to do a firewalk on the Sunday, 12th February 2012 to help raise funds for The Stroke Association.

Firewalking involves walking barefoot over a strip of burning hot embers that will be reaching temperatures of 1,300°F, so this should be a bit of a challenge.

You may ask why we are doing this... Well, 150,000 people every year in the UK suffer their first stroke, and strokes are also the UK's third biggest killer. Jolyon experienced a stroke in 2010 and it took him around 3 months to get fully back in action. Prior to that another member, Nick Athorne, was also hit by a stroke. So we have first-hand experience of strokes within our membership and we nominated The Stroke Association as our charity at our last AGM.

So here we are, signed up to the firewalk and looking for donations to support an important cause. Time is short - The Stroke Association Valentines Firewalk is taking place in less than 2 weeks - so we need to get your donations coming through fast!

If you would like to support the two Business Café members then please can you go to either of their JustGiving pages to make a donation, www.justgiving.com/MarkAdlem or www.justgiving.com/JolyonBerry

Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you at one of our Business Café meetings soon.

Regards

Mark Adlem
